Why Doing Good is So Good: Company Charitable Giving

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

At The LMC Groups, our marketing division - LMC Spotlight - provides branding and design, social media, public relations, digital and print marketing, and web services for small and mid-sized businesses and nonprofits. As part of our guidance, we always recommend that companies engage in giving to a charity that is meaningful to them.

Why? Well, for a start, charitable giving is part of our core values. LMC believes in being a good citizen – a good corporate citizen, and good community citizens. We believe that part of living well is doing good. We believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work.

In addition to aligning with our corporate values, charitable giving and community service are great ways to connect with your audience. It has the benefit of being the right thing to do--and the right thing for your business.

Making your values clear, and demonstrating your commitment, is good for business. Did you know that 71% of consumers prefer buying from companies who align with their values? And that number seems be trending up with each successive generation. Among Millennials surveyed, the percentage who made spending decisions with an eye on a company’s publicly shared values was 83% (Small Business Trends, February 2020).

Some organizations make concerted efforts to demonstrate their commitment to their community – you’ve probably thought of a few already. LMC Spotlight has the pleasure of working closely with our client Members First Credit Union, who demonstrates its community commitment in remarkable ways. Members First is a community-based credit union, with a long history of generosity and local support. They are known in the community for supporting organizations like the Manchester Police Athletic League, Make-a-Wish New Hampshire, and The Moore Center, among many others.

We were amazed by the generosity that Members First showed recently as they celebrated the opening of their new main office with a ribbon cutting ceremony, including the presentation of a $50,000 donation to Families in Transition, an organization dedicated to alleviating homelessness in New Hampshire.

If your organization is doing great things for your community, or a charity that is meaningful to you, there’s no need to keep it quiet. Your clients want to know the good you do.
